Amy! This is my first opportunity to send you love and good karma! This hippo story reminds me of my past encounters with them. It was probably attempting to protect a baby hippo (they're quite small when newborn, and the hippos circle around them both under and above water). They are ferocious though; I just remembered their teeth! Stay safe and healthy my dear friend. I can't wait to party on your safe return.

Wow! I honeymooned in Okovango Delta in 1997. And we did some mokoro trips from our camp (we were with an organized tour). I do remember being terrified of Hippos and being completely annoyed by a couple traveling in the group that kept wanting to get closer to the Hippos. Our guide (Cisco, can't believe I still remember his name) also would not go closer. Fortunately none came charging at us.

We did get to see a Cheetah in Savuti...we almost hit him with the safari truck as he was chasing an impala (or "cat food" as we called them)...good day for the impala and us.

Thanks for bringing me back to my honeymoon!
