I grew up in a small ski-resort mountain town in Colorado so I think it really throws people for a loop when they hear about my “crazy” adventure trekking around the world for 8 months, with no set agenda and one small 40L backpack. Maybe I am crazy for having chosen this path. Don’t get me wrong… I love my life. I am comfortable and happy with where I am at and who I’ve become, yet there is something driving me to leave it all behind and experience the harsh and wonderful realities of lifestyles abroad. Anyway, enough of my banter, here are a few things you may not know about me:

  1. I graduated with a degree in business finance however I find finance horribly boring most of the time
  2. I know how to fly a hot air balloon
  3. The texture of bananas freak me out however trying new foods such as blood clots, tongue, duck fetus and bone marrow in foreign countries doesn’t faze me
  4. I am an arachnophobe however I’m hoping to get over my fear
  5. I love playing sports and being active and I’m hoping to get yoga certified on this ’round the world journey
  6. I have many cancer survivors in my family, one being my dad and to this day I still feel like the luckiest person to have him around, healthy and happy
  7. I am a true shoe-a-holic
  8. I believe that ice cream should be included in breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  9. I lived in Mexico for the summer of 2002
  10. My family and friends mean the world to me. They are my number one fans, support, and drive in life. They are my EVERYTHING!
Quite the contrary to Amy, I had a very city-eque childhood. I grew up right outside Washington, D.C. However, after high school, I had the urge to try something new, so I decided to go to Colorado State University. To this day I think it was one of the best decisions of my life. Now, six years later, I want to do something different again, so a 7-month trip around the world it is! In case that wasn’t enough, here are some random things about me:

  1. The decision to go to boarding school was 100% mine and 0% my parents
  2. I have a obsession with technology, gadgets, new media, etc (ok, you probably knew that one…)
  3. Despite that I thrive on eating strange and bizarre foods, I shiver at the thought of eating mayonnaise
  4. I’ve broken my left wrist twice and my right wrist once
  5. I haven’t read a fiction book since high school
  6. I honestly believe that I now know more about Round the World plane tickets than anyone else on this planet
